DAC PRINCESS SOPHIE SINGLETON

Hi, I’m Sophie, and I am Miss Kiwanis Balloon Festival's Outstanding Teen! I am so excited to be a Dancers Against Cancer ambassador. I first learned about DAC through my dance studio when attending KAR and Rainbow dance competitions.

When I attended Nationals in Pigeon Forge in 3rd grade, there were two cancer survivors who performed and took time to talk about their journey. Watching them dance despite their physical challenges really inspired me. My best friend lost her mother to cancer when we were in first grade and my first theatre director passed away from a brain tumor. These losses affected me at a young age, and I knew I wanted to help other dancers and families impacted by cancer.

I am fourteen years old and have been dancing since I was two at DanceWorks in Southern Indiana. My favorite genre of dance is musical theatre. I was named Rainbow’s National Rising Star Teen Dancer of the Year in 2022. I also love acting and singing. Two of my favorite roles have been Teen Fiona in Shrek and Peter Pan in Peter Pan. At school, I play volleyball, cheer, sing in the choir, and am part of the National Junior Honor Society.

As an ambassador, I will share DAC’s mission as my social impact project within the Miss America Outstanding Teen competition. I look forward to planning community events and fundraisers to support the mission of DAC and to help fellow dancers.
